Non-Ionizing Energy
Non-ionizing energy is energy that doesn’t carry enough force to strip electrons from atoms or alter molecular structure — ultrasound, including the energy HIFU devices use, falls into this category. This distinguishes it from ionizing radiation (such as X-rays or gamma rays), which can damage DNA at a cellular level with repeated or excessive exposure. Because ultrasound works by mechanical vibration and the heat that vibration generates, rather than by ionizing tissue, it’s classified differently for safety purposes and is why ultrasound-based technologies (medical imaging as well as HIFU) are considered suitable for repeated use over time. This is a genuine, meaningful distinction rather than just reassuring wording — it’s part of why regulatory bodies assess ultrasound-based devices like ULTRAISER’s under a different safety framework than radiation-emitting equipment, reflected in the CE, FCC, and KC certifications ULTRAISER holds.
